DOT to Hold Green Transportation Exhibition on Car-free Day

The Green Transportation Exhibition, one of the main events organized by the Department of Transportation (DOT) to commemorate Car-free Day, will take place at the closed section of Zhongxiao E. Road this Saturday!

According to DOT Commissioner Luo Shiaw-shyan, the city government will seal off the section of Zhongxiao E. Road between Dunhua and Fuxing for the Green Transportation Exhibition. The traffic control will start at 9:30 AM and will end at 3:30 PM on September 19.

Visitors will be able to see an array of green transportation vehicles, including solar-powered vehicles and electric cars. There will also be games and fun activities at the exhibition. Participants will have chances to win prizes including T-shirt and cycling gloves.

In the morning of September 19, DOT will also be holding a cycling tour to commemorate Car-free Day beginning at 6:30 AM. Residents can join Mayor Hau Lung-bin on a trip from the riverside park to the downtown commercial district. The deadline fro preregistration is midnight on September 17. Individuals can signup through i-bon kiosks at 7-Elevens stores.

To encourage residents to take public transportation during this period, the City will be holding sweepstakes for EasyCard holders. To enter the raffles, simply register your EasyCard serial number at the activity website after taking 10 trips on the city’s public transportation network (bus or MRT) between September 16 and 22.
