MRT Neihu Line: New Trends for the City

During the press conference following the city administration meeting on July 7, Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin unveiled the first promotional clip for the new line. He remarked that since the opening of the Neihu Line on July 4, overall operations remain smooth despite some minor interruptions.
Hau expressed his gratitude to the residents of Neihu District. He noted that the support and understanding of Neihu residents is the key to allowing the MRT line to open according to schedule.
The mayor pointed out that the disruptions were caused by signals that activate the alert mechanism, causing the temporary suspension of services. According to the mayor, the authority carried out several system tests during the construction period to ensure the compatibility between the Neihu Line system and the Nangang Line system (one designed by Matra and the other by Bombardier Group).
To tackle the problem, the mayor has requested Bombardier Group to send its top engineers to Taiwan to assist the city government in coming up with possible solutions.
According to Hau, the average number of passenger per day during the first three days of operations is 200,000. The City reported 250,000 on Saturday (July 4) and 230,000 on Sunday (July 5), showing an increase of 22 percent in passenger volume. Even on Monday, the number of commuters exceeded 120,000.
During rush hours, trains run every 90 seconds to relieve the long waits on the crowded platform and traffic congestions in nearby areas.
The mayor announced that the city government will be holding outdoor concerts at the MRT Dahu Park Station between July 16 and July 19, starting at 6 PM each night. In addition, the MRT Street Dance Competition will take place outside MRT Jiannan Station on the following dates: July 18, July 19, August 1, and August 15.
