Mayor Praises Taxis Offering Internet Serivces

The VMAX Telecom Corporation held the “Building Taipei City into 4G WiMax Technology Capital” press conference at the A13 parking lot of the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store on March 9.
During the event, the company announced that the number of WiMax-equipped taxis will increased to 1,000 starting this April; in addition, the wireless device installed within the cab fleet will be offering renovated interface design and expanded services.
Appearing the event as an honored guest, Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin gave speech before the media and the participants.
Hau noted that taxis offering free internet services could allow passengers to receive timely information about living, travel, news and public service announcements. Moreover, the mobile wireless device could help strengthen the safety of passengers with its function of monitoring the entire course of the ride, including the paying process.
The mayor thanked the VMAX for their support of the city government’s initiative to build up a wireless city. With the utilization of the WiMax-enabled devices in taxis, the city’s advantages in the area of broadband network application and services will be optimized and expanded to a greater extent.
