Mayor Hau Lung-bin attended the LA Dodgers arrival press conference at the Sherwood Taipei on March 11. The visiting Major League Baseball (MLB) team will be in playing three games in Taiwan over the weekend.
At the press conference, Yvonne Yao and six models from EeLin Modeling Agency welcomed the team from the United States by appearing on the catwalk in “floriculture” fashion clothes.
During his address, the mayor welcomed the LA Dodgers and expressed his gratitude to MLB staff for providing valuable advice on many issues. He pointed out that their suggestions will be very helpful for future baseball promotions in Taiwan and for efficient maintenance of local facilities.
The mayor also thanked EVA Airway, Chinatimes, and other sponsors for making the exhibition games possible. According to Hau, professional baseball players are not only stars, but also role models for young people. He hopes that the games in Taipei will help local fans re-kindle their passion for the sport.
The Dodgers will be playing 2 games at the Tianmu Baseball Stadium, on March 12 and 13 respectively. They will continue with a third game at Chengcing Lake Baseball Stadium in Kaohsiung on March 14.
