The 2023 Smart City Summit & Expo will be held on March 28 in Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 2. The City Government of Taipei has carefully planned 8 exhibition areas and 36 innovative applications with the smart strategy of “Livability and sustainability as the vision with smart cities as the implementation” for the Taipei Pavilion. Virtual tour guides and portable guides are arranged to accompany visitors on a leisurely tour of the Taipei Pavilion, where visitors can also use NFT to exchange for coffee bar drinks, experiencing the closeness of technology in everyday life.
The achievements of the Taipei City Government in building a smart city can be demonstrated to the world through the event. This year’s Taipei Pavilion also includes a number of innovative technology applications. There is the use of MomentX and Microsoft’s ChatGPT technology to develop virtual tour guides that can offer voice interactions, and the “Pavilion Portable Guide” developed in collaboration with PinChat, with which visitors use mobile devices to click on live content and ask any questions about the exhibition hall at any time. Tianyen Inc. also provides interactive games in the stage area on the hour. Visitors can also use the TaipeiPass app to explore the 8 exhibition areas to collect game points to redeem gifts, and receive their exclusive celebration photos after uploading the photos they take at the event.
The smart city initiative of Taipei has developed eight fields based on the core of the smart government, which include traffic, security, education, building, economy, environment and health. As of March 2023, 295 projects have been introduced. Among them, smart traffic accounts for as high as 19%, the highest among the eight smart city fields. One of the examples is the AI smart traffic control introduced in 2019, which installed 148 smart signals in Taipei to effectively reduce travel time by 9% and idle waiting time for traffic signs on road at night by 32%.
Data governance is the core engine driving Taipei’s smart city promotion. This year, the Taipei Urban Intelligence Center has launched personalized city operation dashboard functions, and collaborated with Acer to use the latest naked eye 3D technology laptops to convert the original surrounding view of the Center into 3D stereoscopic images. There are many more innovative technologies and complete solutions at the Taipei Pavilion. The exhibition also features three young and energetic deputy spokespersons, Cheng-Hsuan Hsu, Naomi Tsai and Yu-Yun Hsiao, who will be invited to the Taipei Pavilion to conduct live streaming of the event to draw more visitors.
