As a part of a series of activities commemorating the 2009 International Anti-corruption Day, the city government organized the third Intercollegiate Anti-corruption Debate and an anti-corruption exhibition highlighting the achievements of students and volunteers in this area at the Taipei Zoo on December 9.
Dignitaries attending the exhibition include Mayor Hau Lung-bin and the Minister of Justice Wang Ching-feng.
The city government has taken an active role in fighting corruption and organized the first International Anti-corruption Day activities in 2005. The theme of this year’s event is “Participation of All for a Transparent Taipei – Part 4.”
During his address, the mayor emphasized that a strong integrity is one of the most important heritage of Taipei City Government. According to Hau, the purpose of holding the activity is to promote the concept of anti-graft through the community colleges and schools.
One of the display area features the achievements of the city government’s Anti-graft Center. The mayor pointed out that he hopes to let visitors understand that every citizen can play an active role in helping to build a clean government.
