Blooming flowers will light up the winter season for visitors at the 2010 Taipei Flower Show! From December 19 through January 17, the 30-day event will be held at multiple venues across the city including Daan Forest Park, Taipei Water Park, and twelve other community parks.
According to the Parks and Street Lights Office (PSLO), this year’s flower show will serve as one of the warm-up activities for the 2010 Taipei International Flora Exposition. The theme of this year’s Taipei Flower Show is “Images of the Flora Expo – Dreams of 2010”.
At Daan Forest Park, visitors will find fifteen exhibition areas – each displaying different subjects and floral art pieces. One of the main attractions will be a miniature model of the venues of the upcoming 2010 Taipei International Flora Expo. Other works include three-dimensional gardens and flower belts made from flowers in season and native flowers of the island. Music shows and horticulture lessons will also take place in the weekends and holidays during the festival.
Working in coordination with the Christmas celebrations at Taipei Water Park, PSLO has also set up displays at the Museum of Drinking Water. A giant windmill decorated with plants and flowers could be found at the new venue.
The agency will be holding a grand opening ceremony at Daan Forest Park’s outdoor concert hall starting at 2:30PM on December 19. Following the ceremony, there will be a dance performance starring the Flora Expo mascots, as well as a variety of concerts and other programs.
All activities and exhibitions of the 2010 Taipei Flower Show are free. PSLO invites everyone to come and have a fun time at the annual ‘flower feast’.
