Taipei City Government will be holding the 2009 Taipei Fireworks Festival on November 7 at the Dadaocheng wharf. To minimize the impact on traffic, the city government urges the public to take public transportation to the event.
To facilitate travel, the city government has arranged special fireworks festival buses leaving from nearby MRT station. Visitors can also enjoy the fireworks show from the deck of ferries traveling on the Blue Highway.
According to the Public Transportation Office (PTO), shuttle buses are available at the following locations:
(1) Taipei Railway Station (outside Gate East-3)
(2) MRT Zhongshan Station (in front of Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store)
(3) MRT Shuanglian Station (outside Exit 2)
The buses will run between 3 PM (first bus leaves from the MRT stations) and 10:30 PM (last bus leaves from the event venue). Passengers will have to pay single-zone fare for the shuttles.
To carry out preparations for the fireworks show, Zhongxiao Bridge will be closed to traffic between 8:10 PM and 8:45 PM. The traffic control will affect public transportation traveling between city and county via the bridge, and passengers should take heed of possible delays due to detours during this period.
For those who want to enjoy a relaxing time watching fireworks away from the crowds, ferry operators are offering river tours on the night of the festival with prices ranging between NT$400 and NT$1,500.
