"2025 Xikou Cultural Festival – Tokyo Koenji Awa Odori Street Parade Performance" A Grand Event of Folk Culture Exchange and Disaster Preparedness Education
The Xikou Cultural Festival is a signature cultural and folk event in Taipei’s Songshan District. Rooted in the collective efforts of local residents, the festival draws inspiration from the historical legacy of Xikou Wharf and is co-organized by the Songshan Ciyou Temple, local businesses, and government agencies. It aims to honor and promote local traditions, making it one of the district’s most iconic annual celebrations. This year, the Taipei City Fire Department's 3rd District HQs, in collaboration with the Songshan District Office and the Taipei Songshan Ciyou Temple Foundation, will hold the "2025 Xikou Cultural Festival – Tokyo Koenji Awa Odori Street Parade Performance" and Community Disaster Prevention Carnival on Friday, April 18, at 4:00 PM, in the plaza in front of Songshan Ciyou Temple. The public is warmly invited to attend, learn essential fire and disaster prevention knowledge, and enhance their emergency response skills. Focusing on the preservation of Xikou’s historical heritage and the promotion of international cultural exchange, this year’s festival will also feature a variety of engaging and educational disaster prevention booths to help citizens build awareness and preparedness. In addition to the traditional Three Offerings Ceremony and religious procession, the Tokyo Koenji Awa Odori Troupe will once again visit Taiwan to perform, creating an exciting cross-cultural experience that highlights Songshan’s unique cultural identity. At 5:00 PM, the lively Awa Odori Street Parade will kick off, bringing vibrant traditional Japanese dance and festival energy to the streets. Attendees are encouraged to enjoy the dynamic performance and soak in the joyful, authentic Japanese festive atmosphere. The Taipei City Fire Department will be participating in the festivities by setting up a series of engaging and practical disaster prevention booths. These will feature educational activities such as “Home Fire Safety Policy Promotion”, “Earthquake Escape Guidelines”, an interactive “Download the Life-saving Apps” station, and “Residential Smoke Alarm Promotion”. Through these interactive exhibits, visitors will learn how to identify hidden fire hazards in their homes and gain essential skills to respond effectively during an earthquake. Attendees who download the “Taipei City Disaster Prevention App” on-site will also receive a complimentary gift as a token of participation. Taipei City has won the top spot in the "2024 County and City Overall and Sustainable Competitiveness Survey" by Global Views Monthly for the fourth consecutive time, and ranked first among the six metropolitan cities in "Public Safety and Firefighting," reflecting outstanding achievements in disaster prevention education. The Fire Department warmly invites citizens to join us for a fun and educational experience at the event, where families can explore and enjoy interactive activities while learning essential disaster prevention knowledge to help safeguard their homes and loved ones.
