DCA held Confucius Ceremony at the Confucius Temple

The Department of Civil Affairs (DCA) held the annual Confucius Ceremony at the Confucius Temple in Taipei on September 28. This year marked the 2559th birthday of Confucius – the greatest teacher in Chinese history.
Serving as the Principal Consecration Officer of the event, Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin led the city officials, scholars and other dignitaries to perform ancient rituals of honoring the great Sage.
Citing the achievements of Confucius, Hau remarked that Confucius is a great man in the fields of education, philosophy and politics; the Confucianism has profound impacts on the Chinese culture.
Apart from that, Hau also stressed that though Taipei Confucius Temple is not the largest of its kind in the world, it boasts the most solemn memorial ceremony with the integrity of worship procedures. He expected the event to be carried out continually and become one of the characteristics of Taipei.
After the conclusion of the commemoration, the mayor gave away “wisdom cakes” to the audience, symbolizing to share in the wisdom of Confucius.
