Government Officials Visit Food Markets, Check Supplies for Lunar New Year

Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin accompanied Executive Yuan officials – including Premier Wu Den-yih, Secretary-General Lin Join-sane and Council of Agriculture Minister Chen Wu-hsiung – during an inspection visit to the Taipei Fish Market and the Taipei Vegetable and Fruit Market on February 10.
The officials observed ongoing transactions and examined the supply of fresh food products; they also said “Happy New Year” to the storeowners and merchants at the booths. With the approach of Lunar New Year, there has been an increase demand for agriculture, fish, and livestock products among residents.
The delegation began their inspection trip at the Taipei Fish Market at five in the morning. During the briefing, Hau took the opportunity to thank Premier Wu and Minister Chen for allocating the needed fund for Taipei Fish Market’s renovation project.
Premier Wu said he is happy to hear that there is a sufficient stock of farm commodities and fish products and that supply remains stable. He asked the Council of Agriculture to strengthen communications with wholesalers, requesting them to ensure a constant supply of good quality, fair-priced products for the public during the Lunar New Year holidays.
