[2009 Deaflympics] Local Athletes Win Medals in Taekwondo Competition

Taiwanese athletes Lu Szu-jou and Lin Bo-chong claimed two more medals for the Chinese Taipei Team during the final rounds of the taekwondo competition on September 7.
Lu, competing in the women’s 49-51 kg category, defeated her Latvian opponent 7:0 in three rounds. She is the second Taiwanese athlete to claim a gold medal for the national team since the beginning of the 2009 Summer Deaflympics on September 5.
In the men’s 58-68 kg category, Lin faced a tough fight against his opponent from the South Korean national team. Despite losing the match 5:1, Lin still walked home with a silver medal for Chinese Taipei.
Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin watched the taekwondo finals at the National Taipei University of Education Sports Hall and met with Lu and Lin after the respective matches. Using sign language, Hau congratulated the athletes for their outstanding performances and for bringing back a gold medal and a silver medal for the Chinese Taipei national team.
