Ground Broken on New Police Facility in Datong District

Mayor Hau Lung-bin presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Datong Police Station on January 16. The new building will serve as the main office for the police force in Datong Police District.
According to the mayor, the original Datong Police Station has been designated a historical site by the city government and is protected under the Cultural Heritage Preservation Law. The new status makes renovations to the old building difficult, hampering day-to-day operations of police officers.
He pointed out that the new office building will provide a better working environment for police officers, thereby enhancing the overall safety of the neighborhood. The new headquarters will also present a fresh image of the local police force.
Dignitaries attending the ceremony include Police Commissioner Hsieh Hsiu-neng, City councilors Wang Hao, Chen Yu-mei, and Lin Guo-cheng.
The new Datong Police Station will be a ten-floor building with three basement levels. Commissioner Hsieh expressed his gratitude to the mayor for supporting the construction plan, giving police officers in the district a better work environment.
