The focus of the latest campaign includes the promotion of major tourist attractions in Taipei, as well as the upcoming 2023 Taiwan Lantern Festival in Taipei. The Department of Information and Tourism (TPEDOIT) hopes to strengthen the image of Taipei City being a top choice as travel destination.

According to the agency, the spotlight of its booth at the Tourism EXPO Japan 2022 at Tokyo Big Sight will highlight the 2023 Taiwan Lantern Festival in Taipei. At the same time, TPEDOIT also took advantage of the exhibition to exchange opinions with businesses in Japan to learn more about the needs of Japanese tourists and expectations of Japanese travel agencies, as well as providing them with firsthand information on Taipei City.

During the exhibition, the city government also conducted talks with major Japanese tour operators such as JTB, H.I.S, Tobu, Rakuten, and Yomiuri, as well as holding a business meeting with Japanese production company Nouveau. The companies are interested in details such as when Taiwan plans to relax border entry measures and expressed their optimism for future travel between the two countries.

The Japanese travel company H.I.S pointed out that it is working on products centering on the upcoming lantern festival, offering customers a brand-new Taipei experience. The publishing arm of JTB mentioned that a new version of its guidebook on Taipei City will be released later this year.
