A New Addition to Taipei's Public Transportation Network: the MRT Neihu Line

The widely anticipated MRT Neihu Line will open to the public on July 4. The new line will bring greater convenience to the Taipei residents, especially residents of Neihu District and the workers commuting to offices in the Neihu Technology Park.
Like the MRT Muzha Line, the MRT Neihu Line is designed as a medium-capacity transportation system. The entire length of the MRT Neihu Line spans 14.8 kilometers, comprising two underground stations (MRT Songshan Airport Station and MRT Dazhi Station).
According to the Department of Rapid Transit Systems (DORTS), the MRT Neihu Line is connected to the MRT Muzha Line. As a result, passengers will be able to take the train from MRT Taipei Zoo Station all the way to MRT Nangang Exhibition Center Station without the need to transfer. The interval between services could be as short as a 72-second wait, meeting the demand of commuters during rush hours.
With the opening of the MRT Neihu Line, travel between MRT Neihu Station and MRT Zhongxiao Fuxing Station will take 21 minutes; the trip from MRT Neihu Station to MRT Taipei Main Station in the downtown area only requires 28 minutes; and passengers from MRT Songshan Airport Station can arrive at MRT Taipei Main Station in a mere 14 minutes.
In the future, passengers will be able to transfer between MRT Neihu Line and MRT Nangang Line at the MRT Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Station once the construction of the eastern extension of the MRT Nangang Line is completed.
