Mayor Hau Lung-bin became the one-day manager of the Tsann Kuen Neihu Branch Store on July 18. He also presided over the promotion activity for energy-saving household appliances at the store. He stressed that it is important for each of us to help save our planet through our own efforts.
In an age where carbon emission has endangered our living environment and where electricity consumption is expanding at an alarming rate, the city government hopes to encourage the public to contribute to energy-saving initiatives by promoting energy-efficient products and encouraging the public to purchase household appliances carrying the energy-star or energy conservation labels.
The mayor pointed out that the Department of Economic Development has invited 13 household appliances company to display their products at the event venue. He noted that the product exhibition attracted the public to purchase approximately 30,000 units of energy-saving appliances.
These products will help reduce electricity consumption by 1,483 KWH and cut carbon emission by roughly 9.2 million tons each year; the effect on our environment is comparable to building 25 Daan Forest Parks.
Hau encouraged residents to consider replacing old appliances with energy-efficient counterparts to help combat global warming and make our world a better place.
