In an effort to stimulate consumer spending and to support the fashion industry, international fashion magazine Vogue hosted the first of its "Fashion's Night Out 2009" sessions at Taipei 101 on September 10.
The "Fashion's Night Out 2009" is a promotion drive for the industry with venues in 13 countries. Guests attending the soiree in Taipei include 101 celebrities from the fields of fashion, showbiz, and art. Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin and Taiwan's supermodel Lin Chih-ling also appeared at the event.
The guests took to the stage and switched on the lights of Taipei 101, kicking off the relay around the world.
Speaking before the audience, the mayor took the opportunity to promote the Taipei Shopping Festival to his listeners. The Taipei Shopping Festival, organized by the Taipei City Office of Commerce (TCOOC), will be held between September and November.
In addition to reiterating the City's efforts in developing the fashion and culture industry, Hau also announced the top prize for the shopping festival raffles this year – a Toyota vehicle. He encouraged the public to do more shopping in Taipei, helping local businesses.
