City Introduces Content Designers for Shanghai World Expo

Taipei City Government held a press conference on October 20 to introduce the content design team for the Taipei Pavilion at the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. Mayor Hau Lung-bin stressed that the city government is confident that the global audience will learn about the friendliness of Taipei’s populace through the exhibition materials.
The mayor pointed out that Taipei is the first city to participate in the World Expo after the Republic of China withdrew from the United Nations in the 70s. He expressed his gratitude to Chairman Terry Guo of Hon Hai Precision Industry for funding the construction of the pavilion. He also thanked Taiwanese director Ho Hsiao-hsian for taking up the image planning of the exhibition hall.
Being one of the major events for Taipei in 2010, the city government invited members from top international companies to form a team specifically for handling this important task. The staff members come from Pico, Dentsu, SinoMovie, and Hon Hai Educational Foundation.
Hau said the human resource assistance provided by Hon Hai Group for the Taipei Pavilion is paramount for the operation of the Taipei Pavilion, investing over 100 individuals for each phase of the plan. It is very inefficient for civil servants to travel back and forth between the two cities, not to mention the mandatory processes and limits established by the Government Procurement Law. The city government would not have completed the construction of the Taipei Pavilion in time for the event.
Director Ho noted that as a resident of Taipei, he seeks to present the most admirable aspect of this city to the international audience. He believes this is his responsibility as a citizen of Taipei. The mayor indicated that with the help of director Ho, he is confident that the content of the exhibition will show the world the special characteristics of Taipei’s culture and life.
