Mayor Meets Jury Members of Music Center Design Competition

Mayor Hau Lung-bin met with the jury members of the Design Competition for the Taipei Pop Music Center on October 22. He explained that the City hopes to see top-level designs for these future landmarks through the international contest, demonstrating the city government’s determination in constructing edifices with outstanding architecture design.
The mayor expressed his gratitude to the jury members for taking time from their busy schedules to evaluate all the entries, especially Dean Lars Lerup of Rice School of Architecture; Director Brett Steele of Architectural School of Architecture; and Dean Michael Speaks of the College of Design at the University of Kentucky.
He thanked these important guests for traveling all the way to Taipei from the UK and the US. As the mayor of Taipei, he hopes that they will have a great time in Taipei, enjoying the urban landscape of the city and trying out the delicacies at local night markets and restaurants.
Hau stressed that Taipei is a city with advantages in both the creative industry and pop music industry, when compared with other Chinese cities in the world. The city boasts a pool of top talents in the field; he hopes that the addition of the pop music center will contribute to the city’s lead in this field.
The site of the Taipei Pop Music Center is located in Nangang District, near the MRT Kunyang Station. The total area is approximately 7.6 hectares.
