The "Urban Renewal Project of Public Land No.302, 303, 3th Subsection, Lihe Section, Xinyi District in Taipei City", led by the TCG, has received the building use permit on December 20, 2023, with the handover of the building expected to be held in Q2 2024. A 12-story building with 4 floors underground was constructed. In addition to residential units, it will not only provide a Liuzhangli Police Station but also accommodate Liping Community Center, meeting the need of local residents for public activity space.
According to the Department of Finance (DOF), TCG, the location of the urban renewal project is approximately 600 meters from the Liuzhangli MRT Station, boasting convenient transportation and a prime location. The location was originally the Jiaxing Street police dormitory of the city police department, but due to the deterioration of the aging dormitory and police station, coupled with earthquake damage requiring reconstruction, the Department decided to select an implementer through procurement process in accordance with Urban Renewal Act. Ruentex Development Co., Ltd. was selected due to a bid of committed 29.38% common sharing ratio. After years of construction, the project was completed and the building received the use permit.
The commissioner of DOF stated that the project is the first completed urban renewal project led by DOF, holding symbolic significance. Its primary aim was to clear underused or disused public buildings such as government dormitories or offices in Taipei City, revitalizing them through urban renewal. This not only improves the working environment of Liuzhangli Police Station without public funding but also adds a community center to the district, providing a safe and high-quality space for local residents to socialize and connect.
DOF further stated that to drive the renewal of old buildings in Taipei City, DOF will continue to promote the urban renewal of city-owned properties. Throughout this process, DOF will fulfill Mayor Chiang's idea of building a "service-oriented government" by prioritizing the citizens, accommodating local needs, and boosting the citizens’ quality of life.
