Mayor Wan-An Chiang building smart Taipei City without limits / Taipei reduces 40% carbon by 2030 with use of smart energy the top choice
The 2023 Taiwan Smart City Summit & Expo had its grand opening at Hall 2 of Nangang Exhibition Center today (28th). Mayor Wan-An Chiang delivered his opening speech representing the City Government of Taipei as the co-organizer in the morning. In the afternoon, Mayor Chiang, Deputy Mayor Lee and heads of various government agencies promoting the smart city initiative jointly unveiled the Taipei Pavilion. The theme of the Taiwan Pavilion this year is “Smart Taipei ∞ Future Taipei,” which displays the vision of “Livability and Sustainability” in 8 exhibition areas and 36 innovative applications. Mayor Chiang and Deputy Mayor Shu-Chuan Lee interacted with the ChatGPT “virtual tour guide,” which introduced information on Taipei smart city initiative and the Taipei Pavilion. Deputy Mayor Lee later visited the 8 main exhibition areas covering smart application highlights such as government, traffic, security, education, buildings, economy, environment and health. There were smart management of barrier gate-free parking lots which incorporated parking, charging, payment operations. The Taipei Urban Intelligence Center showcased its naked eye 3D technology, which included a city operation dashboard for the city government to cross-check data. The White Paper on Net Zero Actions, first introduced in Taipei City in 2021, will achieve the goals of reducing carbon emissions by 40% by 2030 and net zero by 2050 through 8 main actions. In response to the “Net-zero sustainability” topic, the Parks and Street Lights Office of the Public Works Department and Taipei Flowers Auction Co., Ltd. were invited to design the indoor plants landscaping for the Taipei Pavilion to display the city image of technology-sustainability co-existence and show how Taipei is a “livable and sustainable” smart city. Visitors can use the TaipeiPass app to explore the 8 exhibition areas to collect game points and redeem gifts, and receive their exclusive celebration photos after uploading the photos they take at the event. On March 29 and 30, three deputy spokespersons of Taipei will also conduct streaming of events held at Taipei Pavilion, welcoming everyone to the “Taiwan Pavilion” from now till March 31.
