The city government held a tea banquet at the Taipei Guest House on January 9, where representatives from different fields celebrated the construction plan of MRT Wanda-Zhonghe-Shulin Line has been permitted by the Council for Economic Planning and Development (CEPD) on December 7, 2009.
Dignitaries appeared the event comprised Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin and several central government officials, including President Ma Ying-jeou, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ministry Yang Chin-tien, Minister of Transportation and Communication Ministry Mao Chi-kuo and CEPD Minister Tsai Hsung-hsiung. In addition, Neighborhood Chiefs from Zhongzheng and Wanhua District and other 500 community leaders also attended the celebration.
During his speech, Hau expressed his gratitude to all the attending guests for their efforts to realize the plan. Hau indicated that his predecessor Mayor Ma, the current President, was responsible for devising the plan and it was continually promoted and implemented by his administration.
With the addition of Wanda Line, the traffic condition at the Zhongzheng/Wanhua District will change for the better. Moreover, the new line will boost the tempo of urban renovation, increase the efficiency of land use, and bring the city a step further to the goal of energy conservation.
