Taking a walk through a park is a great way to spend quality time with your family on a winter's day. From today until mid-January, come to the 2010 Taipei Flower Show to bask in the fragrance of blooming flowers without leaving the city!
The 2010 Taipei Flower Show runs from December 19, 2009 through January 17, 2010. This year's event will take place at a number of venues in Taipei, including the Daan Forest Park, the Museum of Drinking Water, and a number of neighborhood parks.
The 30-day showcase will be the city's first major flower show for the new year, serving as a warm-up for the upcoming 2010 Taipei International Flora Exposition. The Taipei Flower Show is now in its fourteenth year, offering residents the opportunity to experience the beauty of flowers during the winter seasons
According to the Parks and Street Lights Office (PSLO), the flower show and the 2010 Taipei International Flora Exposition will make 2010 a "flower" year for the city.
The opening ceremony took place at the Daan Forest Park in the afternoon of Saturday, December 19. The event featured Chinese music performance, indigenous dance, and the appearance of the Taipei International Flora Expo mascots.
Daan Forest Park (Main Venue)
PSLO has set up 15 exhibition areas at the Daan Forest Park, the main venue of the Taipei Flower Show. These include:
(1) Windows to the Taipei International Flora Expo;
(2) Kids Exploration Zone;
(3) Pavilion of Flower and Tea;
(4) Garden Exploration;
(5) Walking under the Shades – Fantasy Flowerbeds;
(6) Fern Colors;
(7) Dajia River Sights;
(8) Faces of Good Fortune Flowers;
(9) Three-dimensional Garden;
(10) Feast of Fruits and Legumes;
(11) Universe Garden;
(12) Professional Landscapes;
(13) Pavilion of Future;
(14) Pavilion of Dreams; and
(15) Global Garden Area
To promote the upcoming flora expo, 1:10 models of the three venues (Pavilion of Future, Pavilion of Dreams, and Global Garden Area) will be displayed at the venue of the show.
Taipei Water Park in Gongguan
PSLO has established a special display zone at the Taipei Water Park (the Museum of Drinking Water) during the Taipei Flower Show. There will be special events during the Christmas weekend, starting at 7:30 PM on December 25 and 2 PM on December 26. The museum offers free admissions during this period.
