To encourage residents to renovate their homes by growing more plants, the city government held a seedling distribution event at the Daan Forest Park on September 26. A total of 2,000 seedlings were given away to participants on the scene.
Featuring the slogan “everyone unites to build a garden city”, this event served as one of the warm-up activities for the 2010 Taipei International Horticulture and Gardening Exposition (2010 Taipei Intl’ Flora Expo).
During his address, Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin said he hopes every resident could support the Taipei Intl’Flora Expo, just like they support the Summer Deaflympics. The appearance of the city will be refurbished by hosting the international event, added Hau.
According to the mayor, the tree milestones of promoting the city consist of the Summer Deaflympics, the Expo 2010 Shanghai China and the Taipei Intl’ Flora Expo. The Taipei Intl’ Flora Expo will open to the public on November 6th, 2010; it will last for 6 months and expects to attract a big turnout of 6million to 8 million visitors to Taipei.
