What is a great way to send off 2009 and ring in 2010? Come and find out at the 2010 New Year Countdown Party and Parade Carnival! The celebrations will start with a large-scale parade on December 26, followed by the exciting countdown party on the last day of the year.
Street Parade and Carnival
The end-of-the-year celebrations in Taipei City will kick off with a street parade on December 26. Between 2:30 PM and 4 PM, a large procession featuring floats, cheerleaders, performers, and gigantic balloons will travel the streets in Xinyi District. This year’s floats will portray themes such as "2010 Taipei International Flora Expo," "Digital Television Broadcast," and the beloved characters of "Snoopy."
The exciting day will continue with shows at the main stage – located at Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall – will begin at 4 PM. The organizers have invited the members of YOYO Family and If Kids Theater Company to perform on the stage. The audience will also find booths and stalls offering original products, as well as ones promoting digital TV and the upcoming Flora Expo.
Traffic Control and Information:
The city government will be implementing traffic control during the period of the parade, between 1:30 PM and 4 PM on Saturday, December 26. The areas closed to traffic include:
- west of Songren Road (between Zhongxiao E. Road and Songlian Road; Songren Road remains open to traffic);
- south of Zhongxiao E. Road (between Yixian Road and Songren Road; Zhongxiao E. Road remains open to traffic);
- east of Yixian Road (between Renai Road and Zhongxiao E. Road);
- east of Shifu Road (between Songgao Road and Songshou Road);
- north of Songlian Road (Songlian Road remains open to traffic);
- north of Songshou Road (between Shifu Road and Songzhi Road)
Traffic control will be lifted following the conclusion of the parade at 4 PM.
