Mayor Ko Wen-je attended the Dragon Rest and Blessing Ceremony at Songshan Ciyou Temple on May 10.

On behalf of the city government, he accepted a donation from the temple which consisted of pandemic prevention supplies ranging from ambulances to protective suits to isolation gowns.

During his address, Ko remarked that the Ciyou Temple is an important religious center in Taipei City. In addition to being a center of spiritual affairs, the temple has contributed much to efforts in social welfare and culture. Over the past decade, the institution has donated 2 fire vehicles, l support vehicle, 20 ambulances, and over 30,000 home fire alarms.

This time around, the temple is contributing 2 ambulances, 18,000 waterproof isolation gowns, and 2,500 medical-use protective suits.

The mayor pointed out that Taipei City will provide the donator with vehicle deployment records, allowing them to see how the ambulances are being used. As an example, Taipei City assigned dedicated ambulances to transport suspected COVID-19 cases which helps to minimize cross-contamination hazards.

At the end of his speech, the mayor stressed that while the government is limited in what it can do, the potentials of the private sector is boundless. He expressed his gratitude once again to Ciyou Temple for helping the city government and the residents of Taipei.
