The annual Asian Network of Major Cities 21 plenary meeting and exhibition concluded on November 3. Deputy Mayor of Bangkok Khun Taya visited Taipei’s booth and tried out the award-winning snacks of Taipei.
Commissioner of the Department of Information Technology Chang Chia-sheng led the City’s delegation at the conference this year. The discussions at the 2009 plenary meeting focused on topics including sustainable tourism and responses to the H1N1 flu virus.
The exhibition at Bangkok Art and Culture Centre featured booths set up by member cities offering information on local tourism, local products, and local industries.
Taipei City Government Department of Information and Tourism (TPEDOIT) took the opportunity to promote the upcoming 2010 Taipei International Flora Expo in Taipei to local visitors at the city’s stall. Taipei’s booth offered visitors a chance to have their photos taken with the flower faerie mascots of the flora expo, attracting both parents and children.
When she stopped by Taipei’s booth, Deputy Mayor Taya had a chance to taste some of the award-winning snacks at Taipei’s booth, including beef noodle, pineapple cake, and beef jerky. She hoped to learn more about Taipei’s preparations for the flora expo. Commissioner Chang presented the deputy mayor with a porcelain dish decorated with a painting of a Formosan Blue Magpie.
