The 2nd District HQs of Taipei City Fire Department, Xinyi District Office and the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation, R.O.C will jointly hold “2025 Roaming Xinyi Cultural Life Festival and Disaster Prevention Event” at Songshan Railway Station from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM on March 22nd. The event invites citizens to participate and continues to promote local cultural exploration. It incorporates the concept of parent-child co-learning, allowing participants to gain the latest and accurate disaster prevention knowledge and skills through hands-on experience and interaction, making sustainable behavior a new lifestyle trend. This event also incorporates elements from the Xinyi District Cultural Festival series, calling on local communities, friends, and families to participate. It features exciting stage performances and disaster prevention knowledge. To ensure the public can learn while having fun, the Fire Department has prepared diverse and engaging disaster prevention booths, including “Fire Evacuation and Escape Challenge (Virtual Reality Experience)”, “Home Safety and Evacuation 1216”, “Lithium Battery Safety”, “Smoke Detectors! Have You Installed One?”, “Residential Fire and Earthquake Insurance” “Firefighting Experience Vehicle”, and “Earthquake Experience Vehicle”, and more. We welcome everyone to join us for this enriching weekend experience. According to the Taipei City Fire Department's statistics, there were 1,137 fire incidents in 2024, resulting in 6 deaths and 60 injuries. Analysis shows that electrical factors are the leading cause of fire-related casualties. The Fire Department urges the public to follow the principle of "5 Don'ts and 1 Must": Do not exceed the electrical load, do not bundle or damage wires, do not leave power sockets plugged in when not in use, do not wet or stain plugs, do not place flammable materials near electricity, and must use products with qualified inspection labels. Additionally, as lithium batteries have become the main power storage devices in recent years for mobile devices, electronic products, and electric vehicles, their usage rate has increased significantly. Therefore, the Taipei City Fire Department specifically reminds the public that lithium battery products should be purchased with a qualified inspection label and used according to product instructions to avoid excessive charging, impact, or crushing to ensure safety. Taipei City has won the top spot in the "2024 County and City Overall and Sustainable Competitiveness Survey" by Global Views Monthly for the fourth consecutive time, and ranked first among the six metropolitan cities in "Public Safety and Firefighting," reflecting outstanding achievements in disaster prevention education. The Fire Department warmly invites citizens to join us on weekends for a fun and educational experience, where families can explore and enjoy interactive activities while learning essential disaster prevention knowledge to help safeguard their homes and loved ones.
