With the approach of the 2009 Summer Deaflympics, the Department of Information and Tourism (TPEDOIT) joined efforts with the Tourism Bureau and the China Airline in promoting Taipei tourism to Hong Kong residents.

A press conference was held at Hong Kong’s Word Trade Center on August 31. Representatives from 30 media companies and 70 travel agencies appeared the activity; the hearing-impaired athletes from Hong Kong also participated in an oath-taking ceremony during the event.

TPEDOIT Commissioner Tuo Chung-hwa expressed his welcome to Hong Kong athletes. Tuo encouraged the family members and friends of athletes come and visit Taipei, expressing their support to the Hong Kong team and enjoying tour packages featuring special deals.
