The Jianguo Holiday Jade Market inaugurated its new air conditioning system on August 30.
The gemstone bazaar – which at times can become rather unbearable in the summer due to high temperature – is now a lot cooler and more comfortable with the new facility. This favorable change is good news to both the shop owners and the customers.
Located beneath the Jianguo Overpass, the poor ventilation and the large number of halogen lights makes visitors very uncomfortable during summertime. At first, shop owners tried to reduce the heat by placing ice and spraying water; however, these methods prove to be ineffective. In light of this, the association consisting of local vendors collaborated with the Taipei City Government to raise funds for installing a new air conditioning system at the venue.
Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin said he has experience in visiting the market during the summer. With the new system in place, Hau invited everyone to come and explore the “cooler” jade market. He also promised that the city will work with the vendors on implementing further improvements in the future.
