TRTC Announced New Year’s Eve MRT Schedule

With numerous New Year’s Eve celebrations going on around the city and the countdown party at city hall, Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation (TRTC) announced that MRT lines will be running around the clock from December 31 to January 1.
The New Year’s Eve train schedule will be implemented starting at 7 PM on December 31. In response to the rapid increase of people heading to city hall for the countdown party, selected trains on the Bannan Line will not stop at MRT Taipei City Hall Station. Passengers onboard these trains will need to disembark at the stops before or after MRT Taipei City Hall Station and walk to city hall. Other service changes include:
1. Nangang, Banqiao, and Tucheng Lines: Trains will be available roughly every 2 to 3 minutes. Certain services will not stop at MRT Taipei City Hall Station. Additional services will be added depending on the passenger volume.
2. Tamsui, Xindian, and Xiaonanmen Lines: Trains will be available every 7 to 8 minutes. Passengers at the overlay section (between MRT Beitou Station and MRT Taipower Building Station) will see trains every 3 to 4 minutes. Additional services will be added depending on the passenger volume. Trains run every 10 minutes on the Xiaonanmen line.
3. Zhonghe, Xinzhuang, and Luzhou Lines: Trains will be available every 7 to 8 minutes. Passengers at the overlay section (between MRT Nanshijiao Station and MRT Daqiaotou Station) will see trains every 3 to 4 minutes. Additional services will be added depending on the passenger volume.
4. Wenhu Line: Trains will be available roughly every 2 to 3 minutes. Additional services will be added depending on the passenger volume.
5. Notice for Riders with Bicycles: The hours for weekend and holidays bicycle carry-on will be shortened on December 31 (6 AM – 3 PM). The regular hours will be in place for January 1.
To handle the sharp increase in rider volume on New Year’s Eve, a total of 1,000 volunteers and police officers will join TRTC staff members to ensure the crowd flow inside the MRT stations. The additional manpower will be stationed along train platforms, ticket gates, and station exits.
TRTC added that passenger flow control measures at MRT stations will be implemented as needed. The agency reminds passengers to follow the direction of staff members when such measures are in place.
