Xinhe Elementary School Underground Parking Lot Starts Operations on Dec. 2nd, 2023, and will Begin Charging on Jan. 1st, 2024

    The underground parking lot of Xinhe Elementary School in Wanhua District, Taipei City (the entrance and exit to the parking lot is located in Ln. 416, Sec. 2, Zhonghua Rd., Wanhua Dist.), with 304 parking spaces for compact cars, 16 for large displacement motorcycles, and 56 parking spaces for scooters. The trial operation will begin after the opening ceremony held jointly with the school today. During the trial operation, there will be no fee charged parking, and charges will start from 12:00 A.M. on January 1st, 2024. The public is welcome to use the parking lot.

    The Taipei City Parking Management and Development Office (hereinafter referred to as the PMDO) stated that Xinhe Elementary School is close to a residential area. With the renovation of the school and the opening of the parking lot, this can help improve the teaching environment and relieve alley and lane parking in the community. In addition, with the opening of the parking lot, surrounding traffic facilities will also be adjusted simultaneously. For example, measures of getting motorcycles out of verandas and sidewalks, adding marked sidewalks, and adjusting roadside parking spaces. These are to provide and optimize the pedestrian space in alleys surrounding the school and transform the community environment. We anticipate that the daily life of community residents will be taken care of and the regional parking needs will be met while reorganizing the school district environment.

    In accordance with the “Taipei City Public Parking Lot Fee Autonomy Ordinance” and taking into account the parking rates of nearby parking lots, the PMDO has set the rate as NT$30 per hour for compact cars (including large displacement motorcycles), NT$4,800 for full-day monthly passes for compact cars, NT$2,400 for full-day monthly passes for large displacement motorcycles, NT$10 per hour for scooters, with a maximum fee of NT$20 for that day (fee will be calculated separately for the following day), and NT$300 for full-day monthly passes for scooters. The preferential parking measures for residents in the nearby areas are as follows:

(1) Residents registered in the area where the parking lot is located (Xin’an Vil., Wanhua Dist.) can enjoy the preferential price of full-day monthly passes for compact cars at a rate of NT$3,360 per month.

(2) Residents registered within a 300-meter service radius around the entrance and exit of the parking lot (Xinzhong Vil., Xinhe Vil., Tengyun Vil., Zhongzhen Vil., Shoude Vil., Quande Vil., and Rishan Vil. in Wanhua Dist.) can enjoy the preferential price of full-day monthly passes for compact cars at a rate of NT$3,840 per month.

(3) For the registered residents mentioned above, preferential monthly parking passes must be purchased with their ID card and vehicle registration (the vehicle applied must be owned by the person, spouse, or an immediate family member).

    The PMDO stated that after the parking lot opens, it will provide the public with a new, clean, and safe parking space, and the public is welcome to use it.
