Explore Summertime Cultural Events with Discover Taipei
The Department of Information and Tourism (TPEDOIT) released the latest issue of its English bimonthly publication Discover Taipei on July 12. The July/August issue highlights art events and performances slated for the summer season. Inside the covers of this issue, readers will find reports on major events – Taipei Children’s Arts Festival, Taipei Arts Festival, Taipei Fringe Festival – to information on a number of performances spotlighting local theater troupes. With the approach of the 2010 Taipei International Flora Exposition, the magazine also features a two-part special report on the Flora Expo pavilions. The special report gives readers a glimpse of two of the expo venues – Yuanshan Park Area and Fine Arts Park Area. There is also an article on the Celebrity Hall – a Japanese-style building paying tribute to the late singer Teresa Teng. Other articles making their way into the summer issue include a preview on the Taipei International Jazz Festival taking place at the 228 Peace Memorial Park, as well as updates on special exhibitions taking place at the National Museum of History and the National Palace Museum. Free copies of the publication are available at the following locations: Taipei City’s visitor information centers, Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), Mayor’s Residence Arts Saloon, Red Theatre, Taipei SPOT, and local MRT stations. An online version of the magazine is also available at the website of Taipei City Government.
