The 2009 Taipei Hot Spring Festival will kick off with a Shamaness Concert on the weekend of October 24 and 25 at the streets on the south side of MRT Xinbeitou Station. The hot springs festival is the collaboration between the Beitou District Office and the Taipei Hot Springs Association.
This year, the festival will feature a list of free activities for participants to experience the best of Taipei’s hot springs country in the fall season. Those interested in the events can pick up a free 2009 Taipei Hot Springs Festival brochure at the local MRT stations, the Taipei Tourist Information Centers, and the Beitou District Office.
Starting at 2 PM, the opening Shamaness Concert will feature many different kinds of stage performances, including Indian dance, Japanese traditional dance, indigenous dance, modern dance, Taiwanese glove puppetry, and African drums. The musical party will continue in the evening with the “Night of Hot Springs Nakashi Music”.
At the venue, there are also booths teaching you how to make innovative handicrafts such as: eco-friendly Christmas trees, owl-shaped leaf bookmarks, postcards with the imprint of the Beitou Hot Springs Museum; pressed flower bookmark; handmade traditional soap bar; apple-shaped cell phone strap; and do-it-yourself glass beads. Of course, there are also fun and games including paper plane competition, tea tasting session, and tarot card reading.
The City invites you to come to the Shamaness Concert at the MRT Beitou Station and enjoy a fun-filled afternoon this weekend!
