Discover Taipei SEP-OCT Issue: Autumn Festival Galore!

The September-October 2009 issue of Discover Taipei is now available! According to the Department of Information and Tourism (TPEDOIT), this issue introduces major events such as Deaflympics, Taipei Shopping Festival, Confucius' Birthday, Moon Festival, and Taipei Hot Springs Festival.
The newest issue of Discover Taipei will cover the ongoing 2009 Summer Deaflympics in Taipei. The Chinese Taipei national team – a gold medal hopeful – will be competing against opponents from over 80 nations in front of cheering crowds. In addition, the foreign athletes and staff will experience firsthand the friendliness of local residents, leaving them a good impression of this city. Read the special report on the Deaflympics to learn more about “the power of silence.”
Another focus of this issue will be Confucius’ birthday. Every year, the ceremony held at the Confucius Temple to honor the great teacher attracts a large number of both local and foreign tourists. Discover Taipei will guide the readers through the rituals, explore the beautiful architecture of the complex, and introduce some of the charming merchandises available at the temple’s souvenir shop.
Discover Taipei is available in English and Japanese. Free copies of the publication are available at the following locations: Taipei City Visitor Information Centers, the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), the Mayor’s Residence Arts Saloon, the Red Theatre, the Taipei SPOT, Eslite Bookstores, and local MRT stations.
