To promote local businesses and reduce the unemployment rate of Taipei City, the Department of Economic Development (DED) will be holding a job fair in Neihu on Saturday, January 16. A total of 238 companies and businesses will be looking for people to fill various positions.
According to the city government, the decline of the global economy since 2008 has led to a rise of local unemployment rate to over 5.8 percent. Fortunately, signs of an economic resurgence starting the end of 2009 have provided us with a much brighter outlook for 2010.
Mayor Hau Lung-bin believes that the time is right for helping job seekers find work opportunities by holding this event before the Lunar New Year. In addition, the city will promote its low-interest loan program to individuals interested in starting their own businesses at the fair.
The 2010 Taipei City Job Exposition will take place at the parking lot of the Neihu Flower Market between 9:30 AM and 4 PM on January 16. Companies participating in the job fair include IBM, Senao International, UMC, Quanta, TSMC, FamilyMart, Sinyi Housing, and McDonald. The military will also recruit volunteer soldiers and officers at the job fair.
In addition, the organizers will also offer seminars to help companies and job seekers obtain a better understanding of the current market and economic environment.
