City Honors Residents Helping Solve Criminal Case

Two men who helped the police agency bring robbery suspects to justice were cited by the city government for their honorable deeds on March 9.
Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin personally presented awards to the courageous residents during a ceremony in the city hall, thanking them for sharing in the responsibility of maintaining public security.
A robbery happed at a local jewelry store on February 27. Located at the Zhongxiao East Road, the shop has a thirty-seven-long history. Both the owner and her family member were injured during the violent attack.
According to the mayor, one of the awarded men, surnamed Lee, prevented a suspect from fleeing the scene with an aluminum ladder and joined hands with others to bring the suspect under control. The other gentleman received the award because he tendered useful information of the suspects to the police agency, allowing the detectives to track down and arrest the criminals in a relatively short period of time.

Hau reiterated that the city government will continue implementing the “zero tolerance for crime” policy; the establishment of large surveillance cameras will be completed by the end of this year. With the utilization of new facilities and the collaboration between the police agency and the residents, the strength to keep public security will be stronger than ever before.
