Taipei City Hospital-Heping Branch, taking endemic prevention as its mandate, has won the 2009 Symbol of National Quality, SNQ through its establishment of the first vision protection joint project between the “Endemic Prevention Specialized Hospital” and “School Children’s Vision Protection Project”
In 2003, under the relentless attack of SARS, Taipei City Hospital-Heping Branch was sealed and ceased its normal operation, since then, the hospital emerged as the hospital with the most beds(119) and wards(77) and appointed by the central government as the “Endemic Prevention Specialized Hospital”, “ T.B. Prevention and Treatment Demonstration Center” and “Endemics Research and Development Center”. Under the leadership of its president and the joint efforts of its staff, the hospital takes the lead of endemics prevention among its peers. Since 2009, the concept of endemics prevention is promoted to Chung Cheng and Wan Hwa District Communities, setting up 568 community endemic prevention “angels” through the construction of endemics prevention network between the hospital and communities, safeguarding further the health and safety of the communities.
In 2009, the hospital further cooperated with Long Shan Junior Middle School, joint-handedly protect and safeguard the vision of its students who faced the pressure of study load and neglected the protection of their eyes. Through workshops, specialized doctors help teachers, students and their parents with instruction of eyes massage exercise, proper diet guidance, free package of precision vision checkup, special clinic treatment for students with abnormal vision as well as follow-up checkups, within less than a year, the school won the special honor of “Guidepost School of Vision Protection” of the Department of Education of Municipal Government.
Again in 2009, Heping Branch won the supreme honor of “Symbol of National Quality, SNQ” from Taiwan Biotech and medical industry. With this achievement, the hospital will commit to the betterment of its service to the communities to enhance the quality of health and medical care for the communities.
