Mayor Presides over Shilin District Discussion Conference
Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin met with the neighborhood chiefs from the Shilin District during a discussion conference on April 21. Presiding over the meeting, the mayor took questions from the representatives and elaborated on his renovation plans for the district.
Hau announced that the development of the Shezi Island was one of the major projects actively pushed by the city government. According to the mayor, the fifth session of the flood control plan for Zhezi Island was under examination at the Council for Economic Planning and Development.
The Executive Yuan may approve the proposal within this year if the process goes well. With the implementation of the flood control methods, the city government will kick off the renovation works for the region, transforming the island into a new, well-developed attraction outshining the Xinyi Planned Area.
Hau reiterated that the city government has invested NT$ 2 billion in the package intending to overhaul the Shilin District.
Fore example, the facilities such as the Shuangqi Riverside Park, the Taipei Astronomical Museum and the National Taiwan Science Education Center will be incorporated into the planned “New Children Recreational Park”. Other renovating projects included the establishment of the Taipei Performing Art Center and the “Treasure Boulevard” heading toward the National Palace Museum.
Speaking before the representatives from the Shilin District, Hau stressed that the fruitful results of the renovation project proposed and implemented by the city government will unfold in the next four to eight years.
