Mayor Hau Lung-bin attended a charity carnival organized by Yong Lin Foundation on on February 7. Terry Guo, the founder of Hon Hai Precision Industry Company and the event’s sponsor, accompanied the mayor during his visit.
Both Hau and Guo took the opportunity to call on the public to donate. Hau stressed that any purchases made at the fairground will help those in needs. He also expressed his gratitude to Kuo and Hong Hai Precision for actively supporting charities and sponsoring the end-of-the-year carnival.
The mayor noted that the generosity of Mr. and Mrs. Kuo is evident not only in sponsoring the carnival, but also for their support of Hope school students and other charities. The important funds will allow these organizations to continue their missions in helping the poor and the disadvantaged.
Hong Hai Precision also funded the construction of the Taipei Pavilion – Taipei’s exhibition hall at the upcoming 2010 World Expo in Shanghai. Hau stressed that during the expo, the city government will demonstrate Taipei’s achievements in wireless broadband network and recycling to a global audience.
The end-of-the-year charity carnival was held at the Civic Plaza in front of Taipei City Hall on February 7. The organizers invited the victims of the August 8 flood, sheltered factories, indigenous people, and charity organizations to set up shops at the event.
