TCG, Rotary Club Taiwan Sign Cooperation Agreement on Flora Expo
Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin signed a memorandum of cooperation with Rotary International Taiwan President Hsieh San-lien during a press conference on June 6.
Based on the agreement, Rotary Taiwan is now an official partner of Taipei City Government for organizing the 2010 Taipei International Flora Exposition. Rotary’s seven chapters across the island will contribute to the overall effort.
With Vice President Vincent Hsiao serving as witness, the two sides inked the agreement at the press event and presented copies of the MOU to the fourteen current/future directors from the respective chapters.
Speaking before the gathering of journalists, Hau recalled that the support from the Rotary Club played a vital role in the running of the 2009 Summer Deaflympics. The volunteers from Rotary Taiwan helped promote the friendly and hospitable nature of Taipei residents to the guests from around the world.
Comparing the support of Rotary volunteers to a reinforcement comprising hundred thousand troops, Hau stressed that the club’s assistance will help lighten the burden on the Flora Expo’s organizers and ensure the success of the event, leaving favorable impressions upon international visitors.
Vice President Hsiao remarked that he looks forward to seeing the public welcome the arrival of Flora Expo with joy and warmth. He stressed that the world will witness Taiwan’s achievements in the fields of horticulture, advanced technology, environmental protection, culture, and arts through this international showcase.
