Former AAC Chairman to Head DOL
Mayor Hau Lung-bin presided over the inauguration ceremony of Department of Labor’s (DOL) new commissioner Chen Yeh-shin on March 16. Chen was the chairperson of Taipei City’s Administrative Appeals Commission (AAC).
The new commissioner will be directing the agency in place of outgoing commissioner Su Yin-kuei.
During his address, Hau praised Su for doing a great job in implementing many labor-related policies over the years. He citied examples including the “Labor Phoenix Plan,” tuition subsidies for students from working-class families, as well as strengthening existing policies for migrant workers and disadvantaged laborers.
Under Su’s leadership, Taipei City boasts the most number of shelter factories in the nation. In addition, the decision to establish Taipei Job Bank helped many disadvantaged individuals and working-class people find employment opportunities.
The mayor presented the outgoing commissioner with an achievement plaque, thanking him for his contributions to the city
Regarding the new commissioner, Hau remarked that Chen was the chairperson of the Administrative Appeals Commission before being appointed to his current position. He also served as a judge at the Taiwan Kaohsiung District Court.
Wang Mann-Pyng, the Deputy Chairperson of AAC, will serve as the acting chairperson of the agency.
