Wubai to Serve as Flora Expo’s Environmental Ambassador
During the “i-Flora Expo” press conference held at the Pavilion of New Fashion on May 19, Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin announced that Taiwanese rock legend Wubai will be serving as the environmental ambassador of the 2010 Taipei International Flora Expo.
Hau joined Wubai on the stage and danced to the rhythm of the rock star’s famous hit “You are My Flower,” taking the opportunity to demonstrate the original “i-Flora Expo” hand sign.
Wubai remarked that he is very excited that Taipei will be hosting the flora expo later this year, because the event is a perfect fit with “You are My Flower.” A native of Chiayi County, Wubai said he enjoys the smell of soil and hopes that Taipei will bring more soil and flowers into the city to “greenify” our environment.
The mayor pointed out that many people are familiar with “You are My Flower” – even the Flower Faerie mascots know how to dance to the rhythm of the song. He hopes that like the lyrics of the song, everyone will continue to love Earth and our environment “without sleep and without rest”.
Another topic attracting the interest of the media was the new promotional video for the flora expo with the theme of environmental protection. The clip stars Wubai as a captain of a spaceship and highlights the importance of recycling and green construction materials.
As a part of the “i-Flora Expo” activity, the city government is looking for an official Flora Expo hand sign. For details on this contest, please visit the official flora expo website (http://www.2010taipeiexpo.tw) or the city government’s Chinese website (http://www.taipei.gov.tw).
