To allow people from all over the world to learn about Taipei’s culture and landscape, Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin accepted the invitation from the team at Google Maps to star in a promotion clip introducing 16 places of interest in the city. The shooting for the clip took place at the Beitou Hot Springs Museum on July 14.
The “Google Maps – My Favorite Places” clip will be broadcasted on the Internet to allow viewers to witness the sights and beauty of Taipei City and the relaxing lifestyle embodied by the hot springs of Beitou.
The mayor said he is glad for having the opportunity to star in a clip promoting the city to audience around the globe. Despite being a bit uneasy before the camera, he believes that practice makes perfect. However, he joked that being an actor has never been his top choice for a career.
In addition to filming a short introduction about the city, the mayor joined two children in scenes showing the actors blowing bubbles and playing with toy windmills. The mayor took the opportunity to introduce the century-old building and the history of Taipei’s hot springs culture.
For travelers visiting Taipei, the mayor suggests the following destinations: the National Palace Museum, the Taipei Fine Arts Museum; the Taipei Story House; the Jianguo Flower Market, the Daan Forest Park, the Beitou Hot Springs Museum; the Taipei Public Library Beitou Branch; the Taipei Zoo; the Yangmingshan National Park; the Dadaocheng Wharf; the Shilin Presidential Residence; the Taiwan National University; Maokong; the National Theater and Concert halls; the Shilin Night Market; and the Red House.
