Kiwanis Delegation Visits City Hall
A delegation of Kiwanis International members attending the organization’s 2010 Asia-Pacific Convention met with Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin at Taipei City Hall on March 11.
Speaking before the guests, Hau remarked that the Kiwanis International is an international charity organization known for its roles in promoting public services and caring for the disadvantaged. The Taiwan District of Kwanis International is a longtime advocate of public interest; its contributions to Taipei City and Taiwan received widespread recognition.
The mayor pointed out that Taipei will be participating in two major events this year – the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai and the 2010 Taipei International Flora Expo. The City’s exhibition venue at the World Expo – the Taipei Pavilion – will open in May and display Taipei’s achievements in wireless broadband applications and waste recycling policies.
According to Hau, the flora expo will run between November 2010 and April 2011. This is the first time for Taipei to host this major international floriculture and gardening event. He also took opportunity to invite the Kiwanis members to visit the flora expo.
At the end of the meeting, the mayor presented the visiting delegates with souvenirs from the upcoming Taipei International Flora Expo, hoping that the gifts will convey the city’s warm welcome. He also wished the convention every success.
