Ribbon-cutting Ceremony of Wanhua Police Precinct and Taipei City Fire Department Longshan Station Building

Press conference promoting housing justice The inauguration and ribbon-cutting ceremony of Wanhua Police Precinct and Taipei City Fire Department Longshan Station building and the plaque unveiling ceremony of Longshan Police Station were held at 14:00 on September 10, 2019 (Tuesday) at No. 135, Guilin Road in Wanhua District.

The ceremony was conducted personally by Mayor Ko Wen-je, and saw participation from guests such as elected representatives, district directors, sub-district chiefs, local gentry, and city government officials.

The original office buildings of Wanhua Police Precinct, Guilin Road Police Station, and Fire Department Longshan Station have been around for over 4 decades. In addition to antiquated and inadequate buildings, the cramped spaces are unable to support colleagues in keeping the peace around the clock. Consequently, the office buildings were all renovated. After 5 years of coordination and planning, the buildings took 3 years to complete at a cost of NT$490.92 million (groundbreaking commenced on July 8, 2016, completion was on July 13, 2019).

The new structure consists of 10 floors above ground and 3 basement floors. Furthermore, photovoltaics and efficient water resource utilization system are integrated into the architecture to provide green, open spaces, thereby creating an ecological, energy-efficient, carbon-reducing, and healthy building that has received Ministry of the Interior’s Gold Green Building certificate.

On the other hand, the consolidation of Guilin and Kunming Police Station was approved by the mayor on January 28, 2019, hence the precinct immediately carried out the consolidation plan. After 5 months of preparation, the 2 police stations officially merged as Longshan Police Station on July 13, 2019, while Longshan Mobile Police Station was created at the site of the former Kunming Police Station. One month after the consolidation (7/13-8/12), the clearance rate reached 63.75%, showing an increase of 3.75% compared to the annual average last year (2018). In terms of traffic violations, 1,219 fines were issued in August, demonstrating a considerable increase compared to the same period last year (1,114 fines in 2018) and the annual average last year (864 fines in 2018), indicating that the police presence has been significantly bolstered since the consolidation. As a result, the police station has exhibited outstanding performance in terms of public security and the traffic environment.

It is hoped that the inauguration of Wanhua Police Precinct, Longshan Station building and the plaque unveiling ceremony of Longshan Police Station will introduce a breath of fresh air to the Wanhua District. In the future, the precinct will continue to work hand in hand with the Longshan Station in order to safeguard citizens’ lives by creating a safe, peaceful living environment.
