Flag Presentation Ceremony for ICG
2010 International Children’s Games are held during June 29th, 2010 to July 2nd in Manama, Bahraini. Commissioner Kang from Department of Education as city representative and Division Chief Lao as team leader lead 20 players to participate in athletics, swimming, table tennis and taekwondo. The players are elites of Taipei City and attending the event with confidence to win.
International Children’s Games (ICG) is an international organization recognized by International Olympic Committee. The main purpose of ICG is to create an opportunity for teenagers from 12 to 15 of its member cities to gather together and participate in sport games, allowing players build up friendships and have better understandings of different cities’ cultures and traditions.
Team Taipei started to compete in the games since 2001. The Department of Education is responsible for audition and selection of outstanding players. This year, team Taipei has 20 players, 4 coaches, 8 team staff and is scheduled to leave for the games in Bahraini on June 27th. On June 25th, Vice Mayor, Yong-ping Lee has presented the flag to the team and encouraged the team members to observe and learn about game hosting, the coaches to exchange training experience and idea with coaches from other cities, and the players to strive for the best result and honor for Taipei City with sport spirit in order to show the vitality of Taipei City.
