To celebrate Father’s Day, Mayor Hau Lung-bin attended the “Fathers’ Class Reunion” afternoon tea session organized by Taiwan Foundation for Rare Disorders at the Red House in Ximending on August 7. In addition to wishing all the dads a happy Father’s Day, he also shared episodes of his relationship with his father and children.
Hau noted that because his father is a professional soldier, he would be away from home most of the time. He recalled that he and his siblings only get to see dad once every few months, but every time he comes home he would take the kids out to watch plays and eat at night markets.
The mayor also shared with the audience about how he would persuade his dad to help him with homework Sunday night, and how his father would write with his less-dexterous hand to make the writing resemble his son’s. He would accompany his kids when they do homework, because he treasures the memory of how his dad would help him do his.
He said that his dad is his hero, and he hopes that one day this will be how his son and daughters see him.
