Dodgers Set for March Appearance at Tienmu Baseball Stadium
The Los Angeles Dodgers will be in Taiwan to engage the players of Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) in two exhibition matches in March!
During the press conference at city hall on January 22, Major League Baseball (MLB) Asia Vice President Jim Small announced that the team will be holding two games on the island – one at Taipei’s Tienmu Baseball Stadium and one at the Kaohsiung’s Chengcing Lake Baseball Field.
To welcome the guest who arrived in the morning straight from New York, Mayor Hau Lung-bin prepared fresh Chinese-style soft spring roll, offering the representative of MLB a taste of local delicacies at the press conference. He promised Small that the LA Dodgers will not miss out on excellent Taiwanese food when they visit the island in March.
Hau remarked that the MLB exhibition matches will be the next major international sports event to take place in Taipei, following the National Basketball Association (NBA) Pacers-Nuggets showdown at the Taipei Arena in October last year.
Dodgers Manager Joe Torre addressed the crowd through a pre-recorded video message. He said the team will arrive in Taipei on March 11, followed by a game in Tienmou on March 13 and another match in Kaohsiung on March 14. Taiwanese players Kuo Hong-chih and Hu Chin-lung will be with the team when they arrive in Taiwan.
