DCA Introduces Bilingual Tour Guides at Taipei Confucius Temple
The City’s Department of Civil Affairs (DCA) announced that a new force consisting of 60 bilingual guides will augment the guided tour service at Taipei Confucius Temple starting September 1. The new bloods will offer guided tours in four different foreign languages including English, Japanese, Korean, and French.
On August 29, the agency organized a graduation ceremony – following traditional Confucius customs – for the new guides, awarding them with “Confucius Ambassador” certificates. Civil Affairs Commissioner Huang Lu Ching-ju pointed out that all the individuals receiving the certificate have completed the required training program, which includes language tests, indoor classes, and practical training.
In addition to their ability to speak at least two languages, the bilingual staff members are also veteran guides who are passionate about Confucianism.
All the bilingual tours are free of charge. Scheduled sessions take place every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 8:30 AM and 5:30 PM. Those who would like to take bilingual tours at other times can make reservations by calling 02-2698-2989, ext. 6068.
